The FINALE

Image
I t’s time to reflect again. We’re about to end the school year with this reflection post. I think I have made my greatest for this school year. I gained lots of learning during this whole school year. Finally, I have passed the 4 quarters! In this last quarter of ICT 10, I’ve earned knowledge about the Microsoft Frontpage. I’ve learned how to create web pages, insert hyperlinks, add audios and more. From the 1st quarter up until now, we are still making blogs that help us to sharpen our brain’s performance and to improve our communication and writing skills. When learning, we can’t avoid encountering problems or challenges. I admit that I struggled at managing my time. I was challenged a lot of time especially when a lot of school requirements are piled up. Throughout this school year, I have been able to address these challenges or problems. I always remind to myself that I can do it. I always reflect everything and I really tried my best to change my wrongdoings into bette...

Philippines is Independent!

Image
T he declaration of Independence is one of the most important milestones in Philippine History. After 333 years of being under the Spanish rule, the Pearl of the Orient seas has been freed. Imagine achieving the freedom after all the hardships you’ve been through, it is priceless, that’s why Philippine Independence is the most significant event in our country’s history. Philippine Independence Day has been celebrated every June 12 since 1962. It was originally celebrated every July 4, but the President Diosdado Macapagal change the date to June 12, in commemoration of Emilio Aguinaldo’s declaration of independence from the Spaniards. This year, on June 12, the Philippines celebrated its 123 years of Independence. This day is also a national holiday as the Philippines manifest its Independence from the Spanish rule. Filipinos celebrated this day to remember the sacrifices, bravery and heroism of our fellow Filipinos who fought against the Spaniards to fully achieve the freedom o...

Mother’s Day is our Queen’s Day!

Image
M other’s love for her child certainly cannot be compared with anything. Her level of forgiveness is unmatchable. A mother is capable of forgiving of any wrongdoing. A mother is certainly the most important human being in everyone’s life. A special day is celebrated every year to show honor, love, respect and admiration towards all the mothers all over the world. This celebration is called “Mother’s Day”. I owe my fifteen years of my life to my mother. She is my best and truest friend, my companion, my ally, my first love and my world. She has always been there for me, cheering me up, supporting my decisions in life and guiding me throughout my journey. Even if she’s miles away from me, still, she didn’t miss showing her love and support for me. She always calls me through messenger. I’m very thankful to my mother. I think celebrating “Mother’s Day” should be a must because we received a lot of love and support from them. They are more than deserve to have this special day. Mot...

BINATBATAN: A Miracle Festival

Image
The COVID-19 had a huge impact to us. We suddenly had a new normal life. Even the way we celebrate festivals has changed. But despite of this pandemic, we still got to experience our local festivals. No one or nothing could stop us in promoting our culture and our unfading arts. During the pandemic, there are four Vigan Festivals that were held online including the Binatbatan Festival of the Arts. The Vigan government officials were able to find ways to push the celebration of Vigan Binatbatan Festival, Despite of the impact of COVID-19, Bigueños are still active in participating in the said festival. During the one-week duration of the festival, there were a lot of activities that are conducted like street dancing competition. Even if there are no audience, the participants still made impressive performances and they followed the health protocols like wearing face shields as this is one of the guidelines of the said competition. Furthermore, some of the activities that were con...

Fight and Survive Cycle

Image
The 3rd quarter has come to an end. This quarter was stressful and tough for me. My motivations are slowly fading and I often do procrastination. But despite of that tiredness I feel, I still fight and do all my greatest to survive. Well, I can say that I’m a strong person. I won’t give up that easy. For this quarter, we have learnt about Community-based research in which we are able to create our own research study. In the previous weeks of 3rd quarter, we were asked to list various things about our community like our culture, languages, literatures, tourist spots and delicacies. Honestly, I found it hard because I don’t know that much about my community. These lessons help me become more engage on my community. It enables us to showcase the things that our community can offer. I was able to share my insights about a certain topic through by my blog posts. Furthermore, learning how to make sitemaps is quite interesting. I was frustrated at first because I don’t know how to make...

Image
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is defined as illness caused by a novel coronavirus called severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). It is an invisible enemy that made the whole world suffer. Almost 2 years have passed since they discovered in Wuhan, China the first case of COVID-19. Everything has been very difficult since then. Many people died, education was temporarily stopped for months, many places were under lockdown and we didn’t expect that we will have a new normal life. Now, we are slowly getting over it. Good thing, Scientists made COVID-19 vaccines to control and minimize the cases of the infectious disease. If you are given the chance, are you willing to subject yourself for the COVID-19 vaccination? My answer is YES. Subjecting for the COVID-19 vaccination means allowing yourself to be safe. Vaccines can provide us protection against the coronavirus. These are approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Food and Drug Administrat...

WOMEN: DESERVE TO BE EMPOWERED

Image
Women ever since have been deprived of having freedom and choices. People are used to have the perception of men being much superior persons while women are weak and incapable of doing heavy works. Women endured so much for over a decade. They experienced violence, gender inequality and discrimination. But nowadays, women are empowered. They now have the freedom and rights to serve, speak and stand up for themselves. Good thing, Filipinos are brainwashed with the thought that Bigueña women are very strong and independent people. They appreciate the efforts of women while struggling and aiming for rights and respect. That’s the Filipino Culture. We love everyone equally. During this pandemic, Bigueña women are helping us today to combat COVID-19. They are on the frontlines serving and guiding us against the virus. They continue to serve despite of the huge impact of this crisis. This just reflects that women are strong and brave enough to prove their abilities and capabilities to ...

Salute to the Heroes!

Image
Most people often confuse “Araw ng Kagitingan” with “National Heroes’ Day”. The former commemorates the day of the Philippines’ last stand before ultimately being occupied by the Japanese during world war II.           The country’s struggle for freedom and democracy has been marked by violence and conflict, resulting in considerable loss of lives and properties. The story of the Fall of Bataan is a devastating tragedy happened on April 9, 1942 where many Filipinos died, properties were destroyed, and a war took the whole place. It is a dark story written in the dark pages of our history book.       Thousands of our countrymen died during these horrible times. Their sacrifices are something to be proud of. Their courage should never be forgotten. That’s the reason why we celebrate “Araw ng Kagitingan” or “The Day of Valor”. This Day of Valor commemorates the heroism of Filipinos and American soldiers when the Japanes...

Stay Connected

Image
For Christians especially Catholics, summer is not just a time to celebrate graduation and go on vacation, it is also the time for Lent. Lent is the season of reflection, fasting and almsgiving for Christians. Lent starts on Ash Wednesday. This season commemorates not only the Passion of Jesus Christ but also of the time he went to the desert to reflect and meditate for 40 days. This season encourages Christians to follow in the footsteps of Christ while resisting the temptations of the material world. It is the perfect time to practice paying attention to God’s presence in our lives and focusing on how we might better communicate with God, which is to say striving to pray better. Most Catholics know the drill: you give something up for Lent as you have Easter Sunday circled on your calendar. But last year threw us all for a loop. We were forced to give up worshiping in Church, seeing our loved ones, going to school and so much more. In the months since, almost every person know...

WE ARE ALL EQUAL

Image
It took years for women to achieve their rights and fair treatment from people. They fight for it until the discrimination slowly fade our society. Until now, discrimination still exists but when we base how they treat women back then, it is far different from how they treat women right now. It improved! The society let women do their own actions and decisions in life. They can be the leaders now because BABAE SILA, HINDI BABAE LANG!           March is Women’s History Month in a lot of countries including the US. In the Philippines, it is often referred to by the government as National Women’s Month and represents the time of year when women’s advancement becomes more important in the public consciousness. In addition, it aims to discuss women’s empowerment and to improve gender equality.           The said celebration was participated not only by wo...

Photo retrieved in https://www.mexperience.com/mexicos-time-zones/        Time passed so quickly! It feels like yesterday when I’m making my reflection on all the learning I gained during the First Quarter but now, I’m making my reflection for the Second Quarter. The 3rd Quarter is already approaching. In a few days, we will say ‘Goodbye 2nd Quarter’ and ‘Hi 3rd Quarter!’. It is quite impressive that I reached this point. I know I did it because of my determination and also by working hard in accomplishing my modules. That’s my strategy though!         I really gained a lot of learning or discoveries during this quarter especially in ICT. Photo retrieved in http://www.expertphp.in/article/ In the second quarter, our lesson is all about HTML tags. It was a challenging and exciting lesson. I truly enjoyed doing it. At first, I am really clueless about the HTML tags and I also thought that notepad is use for notes like the mobile app. I know I’m real...

Spread the Greatest Thing, LOVE!

Image
Photo retrieved in  https://pixabay.com/images/search/love/         Love is the most powerful thing in the world. Love is as critical for the mind and body of a human being as oxygen. Therefore, the more connected you are, the healthier you will be physically as well as emotionally. That’s the significance and power of love! Photo retrieved in   https://krdo.com/lifestyle         We don’t need a certain date to celebrate or to talk about love because every day is the perfect time to talk about it but there is this day of February when “love” talks really spread all over the world. That day is Valentine’s Day! This day happens every 14th day of February and it was often full of gifts, flowers and sweets like chocolates.         Being single on Valentine’s Day doesn’t matter at all. Valentine’s Day is not just for couples so everyone can participate in the one day a year set aside to celebrate love. Photo retrieved in...

Ancient Treasures!

Image
As time goes by, our culture is slowly disappearing. Many improvements are showing up like technology and modernity. We should not let those ancient treasures like traditions and cultures fade away. We should appreciate, preserve and improve those. Good thing, we have this Kannawidan Festival.         Tourists really love to visit the province of Ilocos Sur because it is rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. Ilocos Sur has a rich heritage and unique culture that are to be preserved for the next generations because it is observed that many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano culture are not familiar to the younger generations already. Children of today are paying more attention to the modern and novelty dances they seen on the television than the traditional ones. Because of this, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur conceived a festival that will highlight these culture and tradition...
