Salute to the Heroes!

     Most people often confuse “Araw ng Kagitingan” with “National Heroes’ Day”. The former commemorates the day of the Philippines’ last stand before ultimately being occupied by the Japanese during world war II.           The country’s struggle for freedom and democracy has been marked by violence and conflict, resulting in considerable loss of lives and properties. The story of the Fall of Bataan is a devastating tragedy happened on April 9, 1942 where many Filipinos died, properties were destroyed, and a war took the whole place. It is a dark story written in the dark pages of our history book.       Thousands of our countrymen died during these horrible times. Their sacrifices are something to be proud of. Their courage should never be forgotten. That’s the reason why we celebrate “Araw ng Kagitingan” or “The Day of Valor”.
