COVID-19 VACCINE: PROVEN AND TESTED

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is defined as illness caused by a novel coronavirus called severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). It is an invisible enemy that made the whole world suffer. Almost 2 years have passed since they discovered in Wuhan, China the first case of COVID-19. Everything has been very difficult since then. Many people died, education was temporarily stopped for months, many places were under lockdown and we didn’t expect that we will have a new normal life. Now, we are slowly getting over it. Good thing, Scientists made COVID-19 vaccines to control and minimize the cases of the infectious disease. If you are given the chance, are you willing to subject yourself for the COVID-19 vaccination?

My answer is YES. Subjecting for the COVID-19 vaccination means allowing yourself to be safe. Vaccines can provide us protection against the coronavirus. These are approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These are all clinically tested and bound by strict regulations. Medical professionals have ensured the effectiveness of these COVID-19 vaccines.

Many people still doubt the COVID-19 vaccines’ effectiveness and safety. Will medical practitioners highly recommend acquiring vaccines if these are harmful or dangerous to people? Obviously, the answer is No. Vaccines reduce risks of getting diseases by working with our body’s natural defenses to build protection. As expected, side effects will occur after getting vaccinated. Some of the potential side effects are headache, fever, muscle pain, sore arm and fatigue. But don’t you worry, these will disappear very soon.

There are two top COVID-19 vaccine candidates as stated by healthgrades.com. These

are Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and Moderna. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is an mRNA vaccine which uses genetic material known as messenger RNA (mRNA) encoding the virus’ spike protein (S protein) to stimulate the immune system against the novel coronavirus. The vaccine is 90% effective in “real-world” conditions; that is in people outside of the clinical trial. Moderna also uses mRNA in its vaccine. The Moderna’s vaccine is also 90% effective. So whatever you choose between these two, you will be 90% protected.

We should not only rely on these COVID-19 vaccines. As they say, “Prevention is better than

cure.” So let’s do all of the possible ways to prevent COVID-19. Let’s continue following the health protocols like maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks and face shields. It is better to do all of these than waiting the virus to be vanished. With these small but powerful acts, we can be safe and we can go back to our usual normal lives.
