Ancient Treasures!

        As time goes by, our culture is slowly disappearing. Many improvements are showing up like technology and modernity. We should not let those ancient treasures like traditions and cultures fade away. We should appreciate, preserve and improve those. Good thing, we have this Kannawidan Festival.         Tourists really love to visit the province of Ilocos Sur because it is rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. Ilocos Sur has a rich heritage and unique culture that are to be preserved for the next generations because it is observed that many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano culture are not familiar to the younger generations already. Children of today are paying more attention to the modern and novelty dances they seen on the television than the traditional ones. Because of this, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur conceived a festival that will highlight these culture and tradition...

No one can stop festivity!

        Every January 25, Vigan City Festival is held to celebrate the conversion of the city’s patron saint, St. Paul. At a normal January 25, I should be watching on the sidewalk of Calle Crisologo Street with hundreds of locals and tourists enjoying the long parades and the dances prepared by the street dancers. We really held it cheerfully. The city officials have different gimmicks so we can’t hide the fact that we have a roller coaster of emotions about it. These happenings serve as our yearly routine but things suddenly changed after an invisible enemy ruled the world.         Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the fiesta is not that lively anymore. The virus hinders everyone to celebrate the Vigan City Fiesta the way they celebrate it before.
