Taking back ecosystems

World Environment Day is celebrated annually on June 5 to raise awareness and generate actions on a pressing environmental issue. The focus of this year’s World Environment Day is to restore and revive the damaged ecosystems all over the world.


The World Environment Day 2021 is focus in the ecosystem restoration and its theme is “Reimagine. Recreate. Restore.”, which is about helping in the conservation of ecosystems and the restoration of those that have been damaged or destroyed. Some of the activities are planting trees, cleaning up riverbanks and greening cities.

According to Ecosystem Restoration Playbook, there are 3 pathways to getting involved in ecosystem restoration. These are grouped under Action, Choices and Voices.

In ‘Action’, our own willingness or initiative for ecosystem restoration is included. We can start recreating the ecosystems by cleaning the rivers in our locality and also by planting trees on vacant lands. In ‘Choices’, making smart choices like buying only sustainable products and changing diets would surely help us in rebuilding the destroyed ecosystems. And lastly, in ‘voices’, using and raising our voices in support of ecosystem conservation and restoration is such a big help to make other people become more aware that our environment is slowly destroyed. Do an action, make a smart choice and use your voice to influence other people!

To fully restore the destroyed ecosystems, we need to work together and unite as one. It would be a tough work but as long as we do it with passion, nothing is impossible! We can start restoring ecosystems by doing activities like planting trees, disposing garbage properly and cleaning rivers in our locality. Little by little, our environment will be back on its normal state if we all participate in the ecosystem restoration. Let’s start it on our perspective homes. Get ready because we are going to take back those ecosystems.

        The Earth is slowly changing. Some animals are already extinct and some are at risk of being extinct. The forests are destroyed and slowly decreasing. The temperature is rising. Climate change is already happening in our world.          Global warming is the increase of average world temperatures as a result of what is known as the greenhouse effect.          Students are used of face-to-face learning. Because of COVID-19, students suddenly experienced a new normal learning which is modular learning or online classes. As a student who is used to the face-to-face learning, I can say that it is really hard for me to adapt the new normal learning in the first day or week of this school year. But I learned and discovered that I have the ability to understand the lesson by myself. I learned to manage my time in answering all of my modules. But I still encounter problems and challenges.          I admit that I was easily distracted because of the noises I hear in my surroundings.
