Ancient Treasures!

Image
As time goes by, our culture is slowly disappearing. Many improvements are showing up like technology and modernity. We should not let those ancient treasures like traditions and cultures fade away. We should appreciate, preserve and improve those. Good thing, we have this Kannawidan Festival.         Tourists really love to visit the province of Ilocos Sur because it is rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. Ilocos Sur has a rich heritage and unique culture that are to be preserved for the next generations because it is observed that many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano culture are not familiar to the younger generations already. Children of today are paying more attention to the modern and novelty dances they seen on the television than the traditional ones. Because of this, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur conceived a festival that will highlight these culture and tradition...

No one can stop festivity!

Every January 25, Vigan City Festival is held to celebrate the conversion of the city’s patron saint, St. Paul. At a normal January 25, I should be watching on the sidewalk of Calle Crisologo Street with hundreds of locals and tourists enjoying the long parades and the dances prepared by the street dancers. We really held it cheerfully. The city officials have different gimmicks so we can’t hide the fact that we have a roller coaster of emotions about it. These happenings serve as our yearly routine but things suddenly changed after an invisible enemy ruled the world.         Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the fiesta is not that lively anymore. The virus hinders everyone to celebrate the Vigan City Fiesta the way they celebrate it before. But as always, city officials are doing their greatest to continue the joyful fiesta despite of the trials that we are all facing right now.         The city government of Vigan is indeed t...

Another Plot of the Story

Image
The year 2020 finally reached its end. I know we suffered a lot in that year. Most of us considered it as a worst year because of many problems that came up like the coronavirus and the eruption of the Taal Volcano. I faced many problems and challenges but I still manage to develop myself by learning something from these problems and challenges. I will leave all the realization, worries and breakdowns in 2020. Another year, another time for me to discover and develop myself!         Few days ago, the year 2021 has started. Many people made their New Year’s resolutions. They promise to theirselves to be better this year and so do I. Nothing much happened in my life after 2021 started. I have a new blank book to write on. I want to start the chapters with positivity and optimistic mindset. The topic of this new book of mine is all about me improving and changing myself, helping other people in my own possible ways and slowly achieving my goa...

Already Over

Students are used of face-to-face learning. Because of COVID-19, students suddenly experienced a new normal learning which is modular learning or online classes. As a student who is used to the face-to-face learning, I can say that it is really hard for me to adapt the new normal learning in the first day or week of this school year. But I learned and discovered that I have the ability to understand the lesson by myself. I learned to manage my time in answering all of my modules. But I still encounter problems and challenges.          I admit that I was easily distracted because of the noises I hear in my surroundings. I struggled in accomplishing my modules because I am not sure what would be the answer for those tasks. Sometimes, I have a hard time understanding the lessons because I can only teach myself unlike in face-to-face learning, I can ask anything to the teacher. But luckily, I’m still here… still fighting and survivi...

Raise Our Awareness

Image
The Earth is slowly changing. Some animals are already extinct and some are at risk of being extinct. The forests are destroyed and slowly decreasing. The temperature is rising. Climate change is already happening in our world.          Global warming is the increase of average world temperatures as a result of what is known as the greenhouse effect. Certain gases in the atmosphere act like glass in a greenhouse, allowing sunlight through to heat the Earth’s surface but trapping the heat as it radiates back into space. As the greenhouse gases build up in the atmosphere, the Earth gets hotter. This process is leading to a rapid change in climate also known as climate change.           Before bad things will happen in our world, let us cooperate and do our part to save Mother Earth. Let’s create awareness on global warming and climate change. But what can we do? How can we create awareness about these issue...

Our Safety Is In Our Own Hands!

Hearing news about an earthquake occurring in some part of our country is not new to us. The Philippines, our country, is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire so we are prone to natural disasters like volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. According to the records of Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), an average of 20 earthquakes a day and 100 to 150 earthquakes are felt per year in our country. We should be prepared because an earthquake can occur anytime.         The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) conduct the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) to train and teach us the things we should do if ever an earthquake occur in our place. I think the importance of participating or taking part of this NSED program of the government is for us to know how to react appropriately in this tragic situation. It is important for us to be educated about the safety precautions that we need to follow in times...

Strive Harder!

The COVID-19 has created a big damage in our country. The COVID-19 pandemic has created the largest disruption of education systems in history, affecting nearly 1.6 billion learners in more than 190 countries and all continents.            Education is not only a fundamental human right. It is an enabling right with direct impact on the realization of all other human rights. It is a global common good and a primary driver of progress across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals as a bedrock of just, equal, inclusive peaceful societies. When education systems collapse, peace, prosperous and productive societies cannot be sustained.          The Department of Education (DepEd) made a move to continue the education in our country. They are trying their best to provide all the learners quality education despite this pandemic we are experiencing now. A quality education is one that provides the learners wi...
